"Waiting for the Cure" by Adam Tedesco

I am in between the day and nothing
The big hug of time alone
outside of everyone and I

I lie to myself

I am finished asking for permission
to love the death around me
driving past the prostrate horse
through the inkblot of death
and labor as if you can’t die
standing up or from lying to yourself

I become me looking for a hiding place
Die inside there
or turn into another

It’s not too much to know
how to give up on yourself
is what the snakes have taught me
